PW 2013-2014 Benevolences

El Centro Hispano,  Inc. (White Plains) – Support for its Saturday tutoring program.

FACES  NY, Inc  – Support for variety of community programs making difference in lives of HIV survivors.  

Food Bank for Westchester (White Plains) - Support providing food to those in need.

Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church (Yonkers) - Support for the newly-revived summer programs in the Nodine Hill area.  

Grace Church Community Center (GCCC) - For soup kitchen operations including purchases to prepare cooked casseroles plus salad and fruit.  GCCC’s soup kitchen is the largest in White Plains.  Here the hungry (seniors, working poor, unemployed, new immigrants and homeless) regularly get a free meal every Monday to Friday and on all holidays throughout the year.  GCCC’s mission is to provide a free, nutritionally-balanced, mid-morning meal to those in need.

Grace Church Community Center (White Plains) - in support of its summer camp programs. 

Haiti Marycare (Jacquesyl) - Support young girls’ education in order to improve their chances for better jobs/living conditions. 

Hitchcock Presbyterian Church - PW’s pledged contribution.

HOPE Community Services (New Rochelle) - Support rehousing program that provides essential household items not covered by other grants.  

Hudson Link - Support higher education in prison for women at the Taconic Correctional Facility (medium security prison) located in Bedford Hills.  

Hudson River Presbytery for Presbyterian Disaster AssistanceTo support early response and recovery efforts in the Philippines in the wake of the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Haiyan.  Help for more than 200,000 includes emergency goods/shelter and water/sanitation.

Kwagala Ministries (Jinja, Uganda) – Toward purchase of motorcycle for transport used in ministry for 13 “street” boys providing them with shelter, skill and sense of family.

Lois Bronz Children’s Centee (LBCC) - Toward a computer room and related materials.  

Midnight Run (Hitchcock Church) – Provide food, clothing, and other basic essentials for the homeless in New York City. 

Missio International - Support of Deborah House (Romania) which provides a healing sanctuary and specialized treatment for severely abused girls.

Presbyterian Women 2014 Mission Pledge (PW) - Pledged toward the work of the PW of the Hudson River Presbytery, the Northeast Synod and the General Assembly.

Rural and Migrant Ministries (RMM) - To enable 10 women to attend the Rural Women’s Conference in December.  RMM is a nonsectarian organization that serves rural and migrant communities statewide, nurturing leadership and changing unjust social systems.  

Rural and Migrant Ministry, Inc. (Poughkeepsie) - Support of overnight leadership summer camp program for kids 8 to 18 years old.  

Stony Point Center (Stony Point) – Support improvement of facilities/programming at the conference center which by modeling the love of Jesus, welcomes people of all faiths and nations to discern, discover, learn and lead, creating pathways to peace, nonviolence and justice.


In recent years PW has provided clothing to a church where members suffered serious losses from Superstorm Sandy; My Sister’s Place; Lois Bronz Children’s Center; and Hudson Link.

Hour Children’s Center - Sponsored in December a drive to collect gifts/toys which incarcerated mothers at Bedford Hills Correctional Facilities will give to their children who visit them during the Christmas season.

FUNDS SET ASIDE toward gifts for next fiscal year to help with Hope for Children (Ethiopia) and 2nd gift in calendar year to Midnight Run.
