MIDNIGHT RUN
For over 30 years, Midnight Run as a volunteer organization has been dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the homeless. At 7:00 p.m. on the last Saturday of every month (except for February, July, October & November when we meet at 6:00 AM to do the Breakfast Runs) volunteers gather in the Lower Children’s House to prepare food, pack bag lunches and sort clothing for the Run. A van is loaded up and driven into Manhattan for the distribution of food, clothing, blankets and personal care items as we fellowship to build common ground.
In late December, we host our annual Christmas buffet and provide gifts of new coats to everyone who comes. Other times of the year, we have our monthly breakfast run with a delicious morning buffet in April, July, and October.
Beginning in the Spring, we have been welcoming our teenage/adult intern students with their teachers from the Pleasantville Special Education Department. They come to sort, count, and label all our clothing, as well as make toiletry bags and cut vegetables for our Midnight Run Soup!
We have also been collaborating with Sister Immacolata from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in White Plains and their young people's group, as well as Katonah Presbyterian Church, and Greenacres School, all of whom have been joining us not only to organize clothing, but to make food and accompany us on our monthly Run
Thank you for all your generous support and donations of clothing and food, as well as the unwavering support of the Thrift Shop that supplies us with a steady stream of hoodies, shoes, sneakers ,and coats.
